“Roots So Deep (you can see the devil down there)” is a 4-part documentary series all about inventive farmers and maverick scientists building a path to soil health and farmer wealth with hooves, heart and soil.
Can an underutilized way to graze cattle, that mimics the way bison once roamed the land, help get farmers out of debt, restore our depleted soils, rebuild wildlife habitat and draw down huge amounts of carbon? Cattle have been seen as eco-villains for a long time. What if they can help save us from catastrophic climate change?
“Roots So Deep” is guided by director and wrangler of scientists Peter Byck as he meets farmers on both sides of the fence - the folks practicing an adaptive way to graze, and their neighbors set in their family’s generations-old method of doing things. Byck’s team of outcast scientists are measuring what’s happening on both sides of the fences - exploring if this adaptive grazing could help slow down climate change.

RC Carter, Carter Country Meats: Regenerative Ranching in Wyoming, Notes from the Hometown Roadshow
Watch Roots So Deep (you can see the devil down there) now streaming on our website rootssodeep.org in the United States and Canada!
Nestled in the western slope of the Big Horn mountains, RC Carter manages 40,000 acres on Carter Country Ranch producing some of the most nutrient dense beef in the world.
Thanks to our growing community, Peter had the opportunity to sit down with RC and learn more about the struggle of managing land alongside the BLM, how he began his regenerative journey, and where he sees ranching moving into the future.
Brave ranchers like RC and @cartercountrymeats582 are changing the narrative of what is possible in the arid west - where drought and harsh conditions are always a concern.
When ranchers get off the debt cycle of fertilizers and other high cost inputs and start thinking about the health of their soils and the legacy it can build, we all benefit from nutrient dense food and revitalized grasslands.
SAFETY NOTE - we’ve already seen fake links / scams / phishing attempts pretending to offer a download of the series. Be careful! The only safe way to watch is streaming through our website!

When our team started their research over a decade ago, Peter probably didn’t expect he’d be discussing adaptive multi-paddock grazing with NFL stars! But that’s the power of soil health - this movement brings people together from every walk of life. At the end of the day, we all want nutritious food raised by prosperous farmers to feed thriving communities. That’s why Buffalo Bills’ wide recei...

To your parents great demise? Should have stayed in school a little longer.
Nature always wins
❤
Even if people don’t give a darn about the environment, the financial reasons to do this kind of farming should be enough to convince them that it’s a good idea.
So cool
It just proves that a college degree is worthless. Colleges must downsize many worthless departments but in this Communist/Democracy system, that is impossible. By the way, our system is suppose to be a Capitalist/Republic system.
Better choice. Good on ya❤🎉🎉
We need more people farming like this!
Dudes been clawing his way upstream for years to create this model of agriculture. Against a current of naysayers, "experts", and officials who are all dogmatically programmed to do what 's always been done. Department of Agriculture WANTS you to deplete the soil, suppress native species, block expression of natural ecosystems. They don't know any other way. More lime, more nitrogen, more herbicides, more alfalfa, more fescue, more tillage, more haylage, more machines. All money, time and effort down the drain. Nature's way is undeniable. Millions of years of successful ecological evolution. If you can deny it, it's because your eyes were branded by hubris and ears threshed by dogma.
Did anyone else notice that that lady looks like she would be Don Johnson's mother ??
Great job farmer
Why does the farmer need more welfare (incentive) to change for the better. Why shouldn't they just how to farm a better way & stop wasting money & depending on the government for more handouts (incentives)
demise means death plz change your wording.
Democrats be like "take his kneecaps, he's a republican" then they take his land and build a whole foods on it with adverts for environmentalism and land acknowledgements.
God bless those who provide while protecting .
Thank you,sir!!! Bless you
What do they eat when there is 2 or 10 feet of snow? I feel like this is just valid for warmer climates.
They fabricate data to push agendas.
You rock ❤
Good for you!
Agenda pushing to control food supply, bs data, millions of bison, millions of dinosaurs, all animals emit mething.
Well you sure are a pretty farmer! Bet your husband is proud of what you have accomplished. 180 acre farm as a kid aint no small farm to me lol.
I wish i had farmer skills
beautiful place, beautiful men, beautiful women
B.S.
It is so encouraging to know you’re out there, working hard on your goals. As a side business, have you ever thought of goat herds for forage and meat production? I’ve recently seen videos from Wyoming public television, interviewing one operation of each use of goats. Again, I applaud your efforts.👏👏👏
Farts
Wouldn't work in pa when there's 3 feet of snow on the ground, or in the spring when it's muddy.
Old farmer says to the agri-guy " I don't farm half so well as I know how to now..."
Too bad her parents had to die for her to get it.
Way to go cooper, I'm so proud of you.
What a gal. I wish you the very best👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
these people are doing good work.
So we need to quit eating plant based foods and eat more beef
That's great if you live in the south. What do you do in Montana. Our summer nutritional grass has more growth value than the south, but you can't go by not feeding cows with 3 feet of snow on the ground. So simply put, I can raise bigger cattle in 4 months than he can in 8, but you have to feed pregnant cows through the winter.
Good for her.
God bless you, for your love of farming. May God bless you richly
Uhhh I don’t think demise is the right word.
Your doing the right thing. Share info.
Husband of an Alabama teacher here 🙋🏻♂️ Struggling but blessed. Interesting concept on cows. Simple though
I love to see this happening. This is how it should have been done from day one. Awesome job, sir. Thank you for teaching and your farm practices.
My dream!
Imagine that Something that displays nearly unbelievable results has some unintended consequences
No fert no food. Simple.
Good for you.
A serious haircut in is in order for the interviewer.
And you work a job for sure a husband does .
I quit cutting my hey and my neighbor who has cows he quit cutting his hey
I like the concept however on Pennsylvania it wouldn't work over winter or when it's muddy.
Great stuff, spread the word 👏 👏👏
